Sore Shins & Satellites
Well I've had a relatively gentle week building up to my 10km Omi Road Race this Sunday. Last weekend ended up being pretty quiet apart from the boys kareoke threesome up in Kashiwazaki. Some very amusing video was taken and an unfortunate 7-11 clerk had the task of explaining that video cameras were not actually allowed in the store....
Anyway, I ran an ill-advised 10km last weekend too fast which has left my shins feeling the worse for ware. This is not a preemptive excuse for a poor time this weekend although if I don't do as well as I hope there's your reason.
My other news is my new toy - a watch that tracks my position via satellite and tells me how far I have run. An absolute bargain from the states meant the dollar price was not too far off the pound price which made it more than worth it. It can track my pace/distance/calories/speed/time etc. and will allow me to race against a virtual partner. With the 4.5km 'race' last night I quite happily whooped my little running competitor - the result being a moonwalk, on the watch rather than the high street. It also draws a little map for me to see where I have gone and lets me play with the data on the computer to make all sorts of fun graphs.
Enough of my unwarranted excitement. Hopefully the race will go ok and I won't do myself too much damage before climbing Fuji next weekend.
Take care chaps....
